About Hyblyg

My name is Emma Davies. I worked for many years in the corporate world, travelling the globe and leading sales teams. I have moved continents three times and have been fortunate to have travelled and lived in some beautiful places.

As a corporate leader, I developed a broad range of skills, from leadership and change management to coaching and team & business development. I am also a trained Yoga & Meditation Teacher and systemic constellations facilitator using this practice both in and out of the workspace. I am exceptionally proud to have run four marathons and completed three tough mudders. My most significant achievements in change are my overseas moves and the immense lifestyle change that I undertook to manage and heal an autoimmune disease so that I could continue to perform optimally and enjoy my personal life.

The modern paradigm pushes us all to be specialists, yet I have built success by having a wide range of skills and interests with the flexibility to turn my hand to what is required. With an open mindset, I have overcome the obstacles I have faced and nurtured the resilience that lifts me back up if things don’t go to plan. And yes, there have been lows, and there have been mistakes because I like everyone else am only human. The trick is to learn from mistakes and move forward positively from them.

My decision to step out of my career as I knew it came as a result of meeting my Canadian husband and moving to Canada to be with him, yet my lovely, expansive network of family and friends mostly live in the UK. As a result, I’m currently exploring what my future life will look like in order for me to live in Canada but have the flexibility to visit my original home every year, not missing out on the most important thing in life; time with loved ones. I’m also exploring the concept of work not feeling so much like work but an extension of myself and what I can offer to the world!

This blog first began as ‘Galarryvanting’ when I moved to LA with work four years ago. For reasons unknown to anyone these days, I was called and still am called Larry by all my school friends. Hence the combo of Larry and my Gallivanting overseas. When I decided to move to Canada to be with my husband and embark on a totally new future I was in Pembrokeshire, Wales. That was when I renamed my blog Hyblyg, meaning flexible or versatile in Welsh. Naming my blog in honour of the country that for many years has inspired me seemed the right thing to do. Some people said I shouldn’t ever use a word people will struggle to say and I say sod it. Plus the world seems to have got on okay with the Danish word Hygge so I think all will be well.

Success, achievement, or contentment, whatever you call it, and whatever you are striving for, starts with the flexibility and resilience of your mindset to embrace the changes that are needed to get where you want. The decision to move to Canada was not easy, and the reality of this choice has at times pushed me over my edge. But growth is found in the land of discomfort and I maintain an inner faith that all will be well.
