The course of true love never did run smooth
William Shakespeare, ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’

Dusk was falling as she walked out of the yard and disappeared into the trees. This time of day was always the most magical as the creatures of the forest, in all their forms, came to life enjoying the soft warmth of the early evening. The light danced gently amongst the swaying branches of the trees as she felt with each rustle of the forest that the pressures of the world were slowly shaken, step by step off her shoulders. She did not know which path she would follow today, as ever she followed where her heart took her and found herself in a small opening amongst several tall old trees.
The space was welcoming, and she felt invited to sit amongst the grass and spend time with the trees and the forest. She sat half bathed in the soft glow of the early evening sun, half shaded by the gentle embrace of the woods. Sat here, she embraced the life-giving energy of the sun with the nurturing spirit of the moon. The longer she sat, the more the forest came alive around her. The animals and the plants moving in their rhythms, lead on their paths amongst the wise old trees whose wisdom both spirited and channeled the forest along its way, each minute, each day, each year and always. Stable and dependable yet supple and flexible enough to move with the weather that the seasons bring. She drifted into her own place, her own path, seated amongst the trees, the plants, and the animals. She could have been anywhere, nowhere and everywhere all at once.
She came back into her body with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. She was both lunar and solar, she was energised and relaxed; the forest as ever brought balance and grounding. The forest was a place of reflection and remembering, and she forever held it in her heart.
As the light began to fade and the temperature eased gently, she was ready to head back.
Taking a moment of gratitude for what was, is, and maybe, she thanked the forest for holding her and began on the path to her other home. Each step was blessed with life and magic as the forest, and its creatures wished her goodnight; she was whole and loved.
Though she be but litte, she is fierce
